Dolce viola. Beauty, perfume, taste, well-being
The exhibition at the Historical Greenhouse of the Ducal Garden
On the occasion of the flowering of the double-flowered violets, Saturday 5 March opens the Dolce Viola exhibition. Beauty, perfume, taste, well-being on the theme of the health properties of violet and its use in cooking and herbal medicine.
The fame and popularity of this plant are justified by its nutritional and medicinal virtues. All varieties of violets contain the same active ingredients including organic acids, essential oil, flavonoids, vitamin C, mucilage and tannic substances. The exhibition will allow the public to learn about the recipes of syrups, jellies, jams, herbal teas, decoctions, ice creams, sweets and the famous crystallized violets, revealing the secrets for their preparation.
Part of the documentation of the exhibition was elaborated by drawing on the texts of the “Viole” publication by Francesca Marzotto Caotorta, founder of the magazine Gardenia and garden designer.
For the duration of the exhibition, the Reception at the entrance to the Ducal Garden from Ponte Verdi will remain open with the setting up of the wooden sculptures "Ballo in viola" created by the students of the scenography department of the Paolo Toschi artistic high school.
