A production of: Museo Glauco Lombardi

It is a date inextricably linked to Napoleon, May 5: the Lombardi Museum, on the bicentenary of the emperor's death, dedicates an exhibition to him which, without proposing celebratory intentions, intends to reconstruct the consequences that the mourning event of Saint Helena had in the Parma context, where the news of his death, communicated to the Duchess Maria Luigia, his widow with bad timing and questionable modalities, set in motion a complicated and very delicate organizational machine that affected both the European political balance and the private life of the sovereign.

In the two exhibition rooms about 120 pieces allow you to retrace the stages of this epochal event through works of art, unpublished documents and perfect historical reconstructions of the emperor's bed, his clothes and accessories, offering a palpable example of the posthumous glorification of Bonaparte through the curious story of the slab of the San Napoleone Martire.

The exhibition, with free admission, will remain open until 26 September 2021 and is accompanied by the volume "Napoleone 1821", the twentieth issue of the "Quaderni del Museo" series.

On May 5th, the exhibition will be open to visitors starting at 12.30, after the meeting with the press. It will be possible to follow the presentation on our Facebook channel.
