In preview, at the BIT in Milan, Visit Emilia presented the initiatives for the historic centenary, which coincides with the 150th anniversary of the birth of Galileo Chini,
demiurge of art deco in the spa town.
Symbol of European thermalism, unique example of thermal art deco, cultural expression of Emilia as a land of well-being, the Terme Berzieri di Salsomaggiore (PR) celebrate the centenary of the inauguration with a large exhibition event and a series of initiatives that will involve the whole city.

Starting from the critical reading of Rossana Bossaglia, who defined the art of the Terme Berzieri as "rich Déco", Salsomaggiore will be the heart of cultural initiatives centered on the figure of Galileo Chini, and with the involvement of national and international scientific institutions and museums. The Galileo Chini exhibition. Gold and the Orient. Decorative alchemies for "The most beautiful spas in the world", which reveals the artistic monumentality of Salsomaggiore, curated by Maurizia Bonatti Bacchini and Valerio Terraroli, will be held from 26 May to 24 September 2023. The exhibition itinerary will tell the story of Chini's artistic genius through large paintings, preparatory drawings, ceramic objects. It will be a selection of works, even unpublished, in dialogue with the decorative apparatuses and subjects of the thermal iconography. In addition to the Terme Berzieri, a place strongly characterized by references to gold, other monumental buildings of the city will be involved, such as the Palazzo dei Congressi, the Tommasini Civic Court, and Villa Fonio, the private residence of Arturo Fonio commissioned to the architect Ugo Giusti and Galileo Chini which will be open to the public for the first time. The recently restored Tommasini Civic Court will be embellished with multimedia effects created by Marco Stucchi and Elena Bastianini.

It will be a widespread itinerary capable of involving and exciting, of immersing visitors in the history and identifying art of the spa city.
