ParmaJazz Frontiere Festival confirms itself as a crucible of new ideas and works which, alongside the prestigious hospitality that characterises its programme and the important space it devotes to education. Neither does it renounce its enterprising role as a music production centre. One such ParmaFrontiere production is La Fòla de L'Oca / Over Time by Roberto Bonati. This project regards time and starts from yesterday's reflections to sound the past looking for ways of narrating the complexity of the present and mystery of the future. The ParmaFrontiere Orchestra, conducted by Bonati himself can count upon the support by six students attending jazz classes at Stavanger University, at the University of Gothenburg, at the Oslo Norwegian Academy, at the High schools of Hamburg and Nuremberg and Glasgow University to interpret this work on the splendid stage of the Farnese Theatre (the 2nd and 3rd October). These are all academies with which ParmaFrontiere has established an ongoing collaborative relationship, which has also given birth to the international Jazz Workshop project.
Six further ParmaFrontiere productions for 2021 are Starting Up (Casa della Musica 6th of October), the Pericopes + 1 project, that is, Emiliano Vernizzi on sax, Alessandro Sgobbio piano and Fender Rhodes and Ruben Bellavia to drums. It continues at the Casa della Musica on the 29th October with Kirke Karja, winner of the Gaslini Prize, in a concert for solo piano. Gli Esploratori della Giungla (Sabina Borelli narrator, Diletta Longhi voice, Matteo Valentini saxophone, Paolo De Matteis piano, Giancarlo Patris double bass and Benedetta Rositano drums). The Workshop, now in its seventh edition, is conducted this year by Andrea Grossi and entitled Era, Ora! ... ideas for music in the making.
