St Ilario shoes shaped cookies

The scarpetta (little shoe) of St Ilario is a shoe shaped cookie, a typical dessert of the Parmesan tradition, that can be easily found in any bakery and cafe of Parma on the feast of the patron Saint, the 13th of January and the days before.

The shape is due to the legend according to which a cobbler saw the Saint passing by on a snowy day and, moved to pity, he gave him a pair of shoes. The day after, in the spot where the shoes donated were placed, the cobbler found a pair of golden shoes.
