On Tuesday 16 March 2021, on the occasion of his eighty birtday, the city of Parma pays tribute to Bernardo Bertolucci, with a series of initiatives dedicated to the great master of cinema.
At 11.30 am in Piazza Garibaldi, on the facade of the Governor's Palace, a banner will be reveled with which the city of Parma wants to remember the profound relationship that linked Bertolucci to his hometown.
At 5.30 pm, on the City of Parma YouTube channel, the meeting entitled "The Bertolucci Mystery" will see Gabriella Palli Baroni and Michele Guerra discussing some private memories, early artistic experiences and passions of the great director, starting from the unpublished text "The mystery del cinema” written on the occasion of the honorary degree received by the University of Parma in 2014, in Bernardo Bertolucci he reconstructs his artistic autobiography.
From 7.30 to 8.00 pm, the city's arthouse cinemas - Astra, D’Azeglio and Edison will turn on the signs and lights of the cinemas, symbolically, as a tribute to the master and as a sign of hope for all.
In the end, for the whole day of Tuesday, thanks to the media partnership with Sky on http://video.sky.it/arte and on the Parma 2021 social channels, the documentary "Bernardo Bertolucci - Parma has been the cinema" will be broadcast free of charge in which highlights the director's complex and multifaceted bond with his hometown. The documentary will also be broadcast at 8.30 pm on 12 Parma TV.
